About this list

Every place here is described by its own page or by the Chess Unlimited calendar as open to everyone or as welcoming guests, with no membership needed. The chess café in the foyer of the main library is held twice a month on Thursday afternoons, the neighbourhood centre NBZ 6 in Mariahilf holds an evening on the second and fourth Thursday, and the pensioners' club in Salvatorgasse opens its Thursday chess afternoon to seniors and to everyone who wants to become one.

The chess salon of the association Fremde werden Freunde meets on about three Mondays a month, outdoors at changing places in summer. Two works-league teams open their evenings as well: the Chess Unlimited calendar marks the Monday evening of Dekron Invest in Meidling and the Wednesday evening of SK Cobenzl Wien at the Waldgrill Cobenzl as for everyone. Add the bars and cafés with boards, from the Debakel to the Blue Box, and Chess Unlimited itself, whose calendar gathers these meeting points in one place.
