About this list
Two organisations in Vienna teach chess as their main work. The Vienna Chess School in Karlsgasse in Wieden opened in October with group courses on several levels for children, young people and adults, private lessons, a trial lesson and camps in the school holidays; its page publishes its prices. Activity4u runs holiday camps for children, youth tournaments under the name Activity-Cups and school chess courses, and its trainers also work with clubs.
Most other teaching happens in the clubs, usually in the hour before the adults' evening: the Kinder- und Jugendschachverein Wien in Alsergrund, 1. Schachklub Ottakring, Schachclub Donaustadt, Schachzentrum Favoriten and, south of the city, Schachverein Mödling. The Chess Unlimited calendar lists free Saturday training at the 1. Simmeringer Schachklub, and the SPIDS project brings chess into schools.
